Manifesting Meaning: A Collage and Assemblage Studio Seminar | ||
| The goals of this seminar are to familiarize participants with the development of some common contemporary art practices, experience art making as a means of transcending the everyday and connect with what drives us in our lives. Participants should bring a chosen theme or idea represented by an object, text, photograph, picture, memory, or quote. We will examine the range of what has been considered in the realm of contemporary art since the beginning of the 20th century. Next, we will discuss the items brought by participants and then proceed with the creative work. Art supplies will be provided, but participants are also encouraged to bring their own found materials for their projects. Such materials could include pictures, fabric, nuts, bolts, fasteners of all kinds, boxes or structures for three-dimensional work, paper clips -- objects that can take on meaning in the context of art. | |||
