Looking Back in Fiction

In this seminar we will use The Diviners (Laurence) and selected short stories to discuss how they approach the subject of memory. We will focus on how Laurence's choices about point of view, structure, tense, recurring metaphors, and the incorporation of unique texts and narrative strategies help to raise questions about how memory functions and how the past remains a meaningful force in our lives.
