M02 -
Linear Algebra is Everywhere!

Linear algebra is a fundamental topic in mathematics that has applications in places you would least expectfrom the social sciences, to chemistry, economics, geometry and beyond. We will begin the course with some elementary applications in geometry and then proceed to discuss the standard theory of using matrices to obtain solutions to systems of linear equations. Combining these two gives us the necessary background to approach some modern day problems that use linear algebra in their solutions. We can choose topics from among: image compression, error detecting/correcting codes, cryptography and some others.
