SEMINAR PROFILE

A12 -
Manifesting Meaning: A Collage and Assembly Studio Seminar

This studio seminar will provide participants with the time and space to work with the issue of meaning via artistic processes. Participants should come to the first seminar with a chosen theme or idea represented by an object, text, photograph, picture, memory, or quote. The chosen item should be one that you go back to over and over again for comfort or inspiration. We will begin with a slide talk on the range of contemporary art since the beginning of the 20th century. Canvas boards, painting and drawing supplies will be provided, but participants are also encouraged to bring their own found materials to their projects. Such materials could include pictures, fabric, nuts, bolts, fasteners of all kinds, boxes or structures for three-dimensional work, paper clips -- things that can take on meaning in the context of art.
