Feminism for the 21st century? | ||
| Many women today support equal rights for women and believe that the Women's Movement of the 1960's and 70's was important, but reject the label "feminist". Has the battle for equal rights been won? Or is there a meaningful feminist agenda for the 21st century? If so, what is it? This course will provide theoretical background for thinking about what feminism has been and might be, and help us to define or refine our own feminist vision and to find resources to act on it. Readings will include work by Simone de Beauvoir, Marilyn Frye, Bell Hooks, Seyla Benhabib and Amy Richards. | |||
