The Right Book at the Right Time: Quality Fiction and Nonfiction in Children's Books

This seminar will explore qualities that make outstanding books for children ages five through fifth grade. Together will explore the various genres for young readers and the factors that make them successful. We will cover fiction, nonfiction, and poetry in picture books, beginning readers, and chapter books. Book discussions will focus on what to look for to introduce "the right book at the right time". Participants will have the opportunity to explore writing for young readers in exercises that can be taken back to the classroom-or the writer's chair.
