"The trip to Cuba was eye-opening. I arrived in Cuba knowing just the most rudimentary history and background, and learned so much more than I ever could have from books or news reports. There is nothing like walking on the streets of Havana, seeing and listening to every day life that will give you a true flavor of the country. Our guides and lecturers were superb and invaluable in helping to put what we saw into context. Never again will Cuba be just a blip on the evening news for me. From now on, I will always see it as a neighbor whose well-being and fate I care about very much." - Betty
"You will love this glorious island, and be seduced by its aging and crumbling glory, its history but most especially its people. The music, art and culture are totally absorbing. The food is delicious. Driving around on its relatively empty roads zipping by all of the 1950's and 1960's cars is just one of the many unique aspects to this wonderful place. I have rarely learned so much while traveling and Cuba is in my heart. GO!!!! You will wonder why you didn't try to make it here before." - Amy "A week in Cuba with Teachers and Scholars was fascinating, fun and provocative. After experiencing the varied beauty of Cuba and absorbing the stories and ideas generously shared by Cuban guides, intellectuals, artists and musicians, I understand Cuba’s complex past and present better. I left touched by the Cuban people’s anxious regard for their country’s future hoping that it unfolds to preserve and enhance what is unique and wonderful about Cuba. I did not want to leave and look forward to returning." - Sidney "Now is an amazing time to visit Cuba. Learn about the people and understand the truth about what life is like in Cuba for the average citizen. Cuba is on the cutting edge of what could be a new economic revival. Can they learn from the mistakes of others and do things right? Watch Cuba grow as the government tries to navigate private businesses and entrepreneurship." - Sandy |
"This trip went above and beyond my expectations. We were given access to activities and perspectives that many people will never have the opportunity to experience. It was incredible and I feel so fortunate to have had the chance to take this trip." - Ashley
"The contacts we made with local people from garage mechanic to former ambassador made the trip an invaluable experience. I learned a lot about Cuba, but more importantly came away wanting to learn much more." - Edie "Having participated in several other educational trips including Road’s Scholar, TAS’ Cuba trip was far more in-depth, touching many, many aspects of Cuba. A super bridge-building cultural experience. We felt immersed in the Cuban culture. Our tour guide was superior in every way. The amount and quality of information I gained with this trip is far greater than any course I have ever taken." - Ellen "TAS & CET made the real Cuba come alive. We discussed historical and current dilemmas, enjoyed music, dance and creative arts and fell in love with this misunderstood country. We were especially awed by so many warm and welcoming Cuban people." - Bev "I will remember this trip fondly for my entire life. Cuba is a friendly, safe and culturally rich country, and the program put together by TAS and CET made it possible for us to get to know Cuba’s wonderful people and fascinating proud story." - Peter "Incredible number and variety of activities and experiences in a single week, providing real insight into a beautiful, diverse, compelling country. Far more than sightseeing - real human connections." - Steve |
